Episode Notes
In 2014, Poetry Ireland and the Peacock Theatre hosted a very special event : Eavan Boland in conversation with Paula Meehan.
This was to celebrate Eavan's 70th birthday and to launch the book Eavan Boland: A Poet’s Dublin.
The book brings together many of Eavan's best known poems with her own striking photographs of her native city. The book is edited by Jody Allen Randolphand Paula Meehan. It also includes Jody’s introduction and a conversation between Eavan and Paula, in which the two poets reflect on their shared city and the central role it has played in their lives and in their work.
These themes were further explored in the event itself.
And three years after Eavan's death, the conversation serves as a further testament to her warm and inspiring influence.
Sound Supervision: Damian Chennells
Producer: Kevin Reynolds.
Paula Meehan’s new collection, The Solace of Artemis will be published by Dedalus Press this November.
