Tonight we broadcast a special programme curated from a brace of Bowman Sunday Eight Thirty programmes made in 2006 celebrating the centenary of Samuel Beckett's birth. In this programme John Bowman explores RTÉ archive recordings addressing some of the myths and mysteries surrounding both Mr. Beckett and his work, through the words and thoughts of friends and collaborators including Walter Asmus, Alan Simpson, John Calder, AJ (Con) Leventhal, Maria Jolas, Francis Stuart, John Minahan, Patrick Magee, Billie Whitelaw and Barry McGovern.
The presenter is John Bowman.
The archival and field recordings were from programmes by Seamus Hosey, Kieran Sheedy, Andy O’Mahony, Ann Walsh, Mike Murphy, Des Hickey and John Bowman. John is back on air at his usual time next Sunday Morning at eight thirty. Next week we continue our Beckett Season on Drama On One with The Old Tune starring Barry McGovern and Eamon Morrissey, directed by Conall Morrison.
