Bonnie is a meteorologist from Co. Derry. Her love of weather and climate was sparked at an early age growing up on her father's farm, where she spent many summer evenings trying not to get caught running on hay bales along with her friends and cousins!
Bonnie's interest in the environment led her to study Geography at the University of Southampton, followed by a stint in journalism in Belfast, before joining the UK Met Office as a trainee meteorologist in 2014.She spent several years working as an operational meteorologist, forecasting the weather at lots of locations across the UK, as well as a year forecasting mainly sunny skies at Gibraltar airport! Bonnie was delighted with the opportunity to join the Met Office Press team in 2018, enabling her to combine her love of weather and science communication.
After many years away from Ireland, the call to move home grew strong and in 2022 she relocated to Dublin and worked at Met Éireann, before joining the RTÉ Weather team in 2022.Bonnie says she is really looking forward to telling the public what the Irish weather has in store for them, come rain or shine.
Bonnie now splits her time between RTÉ Weather and her role as communications lead for a sustainability company, where she is passionate about encouraging people to make better decisions to help the climate emergency.
When not at work Bonnie can be found exploring Ireland with her partner and enjoying time with friends and family.
