Pete informs a mortified Erica and Doug that an anonymous online fund has been set up to help them find a home in tonight's Fair City on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player.
The couple's hopes for a dream home are in ruins due to the disastrous Carrigstown property development.
But in tonight's episode, Pete reveals that two contributors to the online fund "have stuck in five grand each into the pot".
"We don't want anyone taking pity on us, Da," says Doug.
"I can't believe someone made a sob story of us!" says Erica.
