Dozens of people are demonstrating outside the American Chamber of Commerce's annual Independence Day lunch in Dublin.

Organised by the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the group is calling on the US government to stop sending funds and weapons to Israel.

Protestors are lining the street with 30 metres of red banners to "symbolise the non-existent 'red line' that US President Biden promised would be crossed if the Israeli state attacked the tent encampments of Rafah".

The American Chamber event at the Clayton Burlington Hotel will be attended by Taoiseach Simon Harris, along with over 500 members and guests, mostly from the business community.

Organisers are also calling on the Taoiseach to use "every means at the Irish Government's disposal" to stop the war in Gaza.
