Letterbox Kid is the artistic project of 24-year-old Irish singer-songwriter, producer and rapper, Isaac O'Sullivan, and his new song follows previous releases Let The Forecast Be White, Please and Rainbow Song.

Speaking about the track, he says, "This song would happily sit upon a car radio on a warm Summer's day when there was simply nothing better to do than go for a Sunday drive and play bops one after two until the sun escaped the sky and you found yourself back in the drive of your family home, too embarrassed to tell your Dad the name of said song."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I've never been on a Tinder date. I'm absolutely incredible at thumb wars, and I wrote and recorded my first album at 16 years old. The record was called A Live and exists solely on the CDs I sold around school and at my first show.

How would you describe your music?

I find my music incredibly difficult to describe if I'm being honest, I usually paw that question off to my buddies when asked on nights out (they usually describe it as being much stranger than I would). If I had to put a term to it, which I do in this particular scenario, then I'd say this - it's Abstract Avant-Garde Pop Rap Music with more than a dollop of Soul and R&B influences.

Who are your musical inspirations?

My two greatest influences, most prominent for sure, are Jeff Buckley and Tyler, The Creator. Those are the two artists that get mentioned to me the most when I'm chatting to people about my tunes out and about. I used to listen to Jeff Buckley records on my Dad’s old stereo system which I moved up to my bedroom when I was, I want to say about 14 years old. I used to have Grace playing on repeat as I slept as a teenager. When I started nearing the end of my teenage years I became obsessed with Tyler. The music, the fashion, the visuals, the jewellery, the personality. He got me into Hip-Hop. If you're familiar with those great artists then I think that helps me categorise the range in which my music swings, genre-wise.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

I don't think I was ever brought to a gig as a young child, at least I can't remember at this present moment. I nearly went to a JLS concert with my buddy and his family when I was about 11 or 12 but I ended up choosing to play a soccer match which clashed instead. I was a serious baller in my day. So, with that, my first gig was The Coronas in The Marquee in Cork about a week after my Junior Cert finished and I could not wait to be finished those exams and at that gig with my friends.

What was the first record you ever bought?

My Dad had a huge collection of tapes and CDs growing up, I remember being brought to a record store as a four or five-year-old and manipulating him into giving me about €4 so I could buy that Moby album that was everywhere in the early 2000s, Play. Great artist-producer album when that wasn't done so much and here we are!

What’s your favourite song right now?

Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar. Literally the song of the Summer.

Favourite lyric of all time?

My favourite song lyric of all time is one I've written myself. Is that bad? I just love it so much. It's an unreleased song which will be on my upcoming project, Let's Talk About The Weather. Stormy Daniels, along with Let The Forecast Be White, Please and Rainbow Song are on that project too and you can find them on all your favourite streaming platforms right now! It's the opening line of the song and it goes as follows - "Let the rain fall over itself, let the sun crawl out from your desk".

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Nude by Radiohead. It makes me safe!

Where can people find your music/more information?

Go follow me on Instagram and TikTok as @letterboxkid if you're so inclined. I do lots of different fun things on there and go stream all my songs on any of your favourite streaming platforms.
