As he celebrated Manchester City winning the Premier League title at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, Noel Gallagher left the BBC in no doubt about where his allegiances lie away from his hometown.

After the final whistle, the lifelong Manchester City fan was speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live about the significance of City's title victory.

"It means we are now out on our own as, you know, the greatest club side in England," he said. "No one's done four [titles] in a row. It puts us above Liverpool, Man United, and Arsenal - and much deserved. It's been a great season, and we're not even at our best apparently!"

Praising Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden, who scored two on the day in the game against West Ham, Gallagher continued: "When you need an early goal, right?, and you get one and it's one of your own, you know the gods are with you."

"Do you care how he plays for the England in the Euros this summer?" asked the interviewer.

"I'm not an England fan, I'm Irish," Gallagher replied. "Good night!"
