Fungi as a very young dolphin in 1987, when Aonghus McAnally went out in a dinghy to meet him.
Fungi was approaching maturity at the time and there were fears that he might leave then to seek out his own kind. Luckily he is still in Dingle today, where he has become a major tourist attraction.
In this 'Evening Extra' report, Aonghus McAnally bonds with Fungi under water and meets local divers. Ronnie Fitzgibbon tells him about the piseog that no fishermen will die as long as there is a dolphin in the harbour. Fungi is a very friendly dolphin, who prefers women to men, but hasn't found a mate yet.
This episode of 'Evening Extra' was broadcast on 5 October 1987.
