This week's episode of Out & Proud is all about minding yourself, from mental health to STI tests and more.

Dr John Gilmore Assistant Professor in the UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems talks about some of the barriers that exist for LGBTQI+ people trying to access healthcare and how that impacts our ability to understand the needs of the community and the extent of inequalities that exist.

With STIs on the rise, it's more important than ever for everyone, irrespective of their identity, to stay on top of their sexual health.

There is still a lot of stigma and misunderstanding involved in this area, so Trevor met Siobhán O’Dea, Advanced Nurse Practitioner at the Prevention Support Clinic at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin, to take a test and do a little myth-busting.

Then CEO of LGBT Ireland, Paula Fagan and Anita Furlong, Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Supervisor, specialising in working with Gender and Sexual Diversity, discussed some of the key mental health and wellbeing concerns expressed by members of the LGBTQI+ community to the national LGBT helpline and what simple, yet powerful, steps you can take to mind yourself if you’re struggling with acceptance.
