Artist Hilary Heron is the focus of a new exhibition at IMMA, the latest in its Modern Masters series, curated by Sean Kissane.

Jess Fahy has been to see the show and joined Sean Rocks in studio for RTÉ Arena - listen above.

Born in Dublin in 1923, she studied at NCAD and went on to become a pioneering modernist sculptor. She represented Ireland at the 1956 Venice Biennale alongside painter Louis le Brocquy, an honour which brought her to an international audience, particularly in the US.

She was only 54 when she died, and her profile as an artist has since faded somewhat from view.

Hilary Heron: A Retrospective is the first major retrospective of her art since 1964.

Hilary Heron: A Retrospective is at IMMA (the Irish Museum Of Modern Art) until 28 Oct 2024. Listen to more from RTÉ Arena here.
