Temperatures soar as Ireland basks in sunshine.

The highest temperature was recorded at Kilkenny Castle. This is just the fourth time that temperatures in Ireland have entered the thirties in the past thirty years.

The highest temperature today was recorded at the Met station in Kilkenny.

As sun worshippers flocked to the seaside to make the most of the good weather Emer O'Kane of the Irish Cancer Society warned the public about the potential dangers of staying out in the sun for too long.
